Initiated by 'Dora Gabe' Kindergarten - Shabla and as part of a project funded by the PUDOOS 'Green Outdoor Classroom,' with the support of the Shabla Municipality and the 'Green Balkans,' association  on August 28th, the little ones from 'Dora Gabe' Kindergarten had the opportunity to learn about the inhabitants of Shabla Lake and Durankulak Lake, specifically the globally endangered Red-Breasted goose. With the help of the story 'The Adventures of Brent the Red-Breasted Goose,' presented by the ecologist from Shabla Municipality - Galya Kamberova, and the Chief Expert in Education, Neli Raycheva, the kindergarten children 'flew' the distance of 6,000 km between the Siberian tundra, where the geese nest and raise their young during the summer, and Bulgaria, where they spend the winter, feeding in the grain fields of Dobrudzha and resting in the waters of Shabla and Durankulak Lakes. The children gained knowledge about the dangers of this long migration route and the efforts that conservationists make to protect these rare birds. They were also shown two short films on the same topic. At the end of the event, each child received the book 'The Adventures of Brent the Red-Breasted Goose' as a gift, kindly provided by the 'Green Balkans' association.

We would like to thank Theodora Valchanova - director, and the teachers Siyana Vasileva, Elena Dimitrova, and Daniela Dimova from Kindergarten 'Dora Gabe,' Galya Kamberova, the ecologist from Shabla Municipality, and Neli Raycheva, Chief Expert in Education at Shabla Municipality, for providing the information and photos from the organized informational event for the children!!!

Natura 2000
Natura 2000 is the most extensive coordinated network for nature conservation. Over 30% of Bulgaria's territory falls within the scope of this network, including 120 protected areas for the conservation of wild birds and 234 protected areas for the preservation of natural habitats.

Red-Breasted Goose
The Red-Breasted Goose is a globally endangered and protected species, subject to conservation efforts within the Natura 2000 ecological network. Bulgaria plays a crucial role in the conservation of this species, as almost the entire global population spends the winter in the region of Primorska Dobrudzha.
