Part of the program of the event was an information and educational board for Pomorie Lake and its unique biodiversity, developed as part of the activities of the project "Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons".
The educational game for Lake Pomorie aims to present in a fun way the importance of the wetland. Various plant and animal organisms have adapted to the unique environment of the super-saline lagoon, which determines the high conservation status of Lake Pomorie. Protected area under Bulgarian law, Natura zone, Ramsar site and Ornithologically important place, Pomorie Lake is home and a place of rest for over 270 species of birds, most of which are rare and protected.
With magnets of the inhabitants of the lake, everyone had the opportunity to get acquainted with the rare Pygmy cormorant, why the crab of the genus Artemia is important for birds, which species of fish has adapted to the high salinity of the water in the lake and others. Information materials were also provided by Green Balkans, and an exhibition of the globally endangered species of red-breasted goose (Branta ruficollis) was exhibited in the Sea Aquarium Hall.
The event also included a coloring workshop for the little ones, an educational presentation on "Why wetlands are important on Earth", as well as a quiz with prizes from a team of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds.
We thank the team of the Regional Museum of Natural History - Plovdiv for the hospitality and good cooperation.
