In February – Month of the Red-breasted Goose the ‘Natura 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons’ team visited the children from the ‘Prikazka bez kray’ and ‘Momo’ Kids’ house in Sofia.
After we celebrated the Black Sea Day and the International Bat Night it was time to tell children about some of the most interesting bird species in our country. Which is why we took Brent – the Red-breasted Goose model all the way from the Dobrogea region to Sofia where the curious children could meet him and find out more about the species. The children learned about the small goose, its home in Siberia and why it travels 8000 km to Bulgaria each winter. Brent told everyone about wetlands and their importance as well as about Red-breasted Geese and what we do to protect them.
The children from the ‘Prikazka bez krai’ surprised us with a short video about urban wintering bird species they had made.
We gave them the ‘Adventures of Brent – the Red-breasted Goose’ book and can’t wait to hear what they think of it.
Thank you children for being so welcoming and for the wonderful time!
